For New Parents

New parent education packageNew Parent Connections

Becoming a parent to child with Down syndrome can feel lonely and stressful.

We are here to support you and your family as you begin this wonderful journey.  Whether you receive the information that your baby has Down syndrome prenatally or at birth (or in some cases weeks after your baby is born), we are here to help and support you.

We can do this in a number of ways depending on what is the best fit for you and your family, including :

  • introducing you to an experienced parent before your baby is born;
  • visiting you in the hospital after your baby is born;
  • providing you with up to date resources and information about what this will mean for your child and family;
  • invite you and your baby (and any siblings) to attend our Parent and Child Networking Group held weekly at a local Early Years Centre; and
  • invite you and your family to upcoming DSAH social and educational events.
